Obituary for Donna Dee Jackson
Though your journey to heaven has been long and heartbreaking, you have reached home and found peace.
Donna Dee was born July 13, 1930 in Burwell, NE to Lillian and Roy Farmer. She passed away peacefully January 6, 2019 with her daughter, Peggy, by her side.
On August 20, 1950, Donna married Harold ‘Sonny’ Jackson in Valentine, NE. To this union three children were born: Peggy, Jerry & Kathy.
Donna’s love for her family was unshakable. Her closeness with her parents and siblings, Joyce, Shirley, Marilyn, Marvin and David, continued throughout their lives. She enjoyed her nieces: Deanna, Darla, Deb, and Twila and nephews: Dennis, Gregg, Steve, Rex, Aaron and Ryan, very much.
Donna loved and nurtured her three children to adulthood. In turn, she had three children who respected and loved her.
When the grandchildren started to arrive, Gram Donna and Grandpa Sonny were thrilled. They were blessed with ten grandchildren: Melisa, Jami, Justina, Lorena, Melinda, Becky, April, Brenda, Lindsey and Ty; ten great grandchildren: Marshall, Lane, Cole, Bradley, Joey, Jace, Wyatt, Easton, Kaden and Tatum; and one great granddaughter, Logen.
When Donna lost Sonny to cancer in 1989, her life on their small place south of Martin came to an end. She moved to town, which she enjoyed, and was off and running strong. The horrible disease of Dementia/Alzheimer's has been Donna’s constant companion for over nine years. It was a blessing that Donna was unaware that she lost her only son, Jerry, in 2011, her sister Joyce and her brother David.
Holmes Funeral Home of Valentine was entrusted with the arrangements for the services held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martin, SD with burial following at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Cody, NE.
Donna and Sonny loved to dance, especially square dancing. Perhaps she and Sonny are once again laughing and dancing the night away.
Now you can look down upon all of your family again and know and remember them once more. Love you Mom…
Services were held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church, Martin, SD. Burial followed at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Cody, NE.
