Pansy Monroe entered Heaven’s gates June 6, 2018 to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior at the age of 88 after a long battle with cancer.
Pansy was born to Ralph and Vera Hayford on January 16, 1930 in Milboro S.D. She was the 3rd of six children. Pansy attended school at Beaver Creek and entered high school in Valentine. She boarded with several families in town. In exchange for room and board Pansy helped with child care and housekeeping. Pansy furthered her education by attending classes at Mt. Marty College in 1976.
Pansy married Louis Monroe on October 20, 1946 and they moved to Seattle, Washington for a short time before returning to the Sparks/Springview area.
During her life time Pansy had numerous careers. She worked for Dr. Slusher as a receptionist for 9 years, owned and operated a motel in Ainsworth and worked for several business in Springview and helped Louis with his trucking business. In 2010, they moved to Valentine due to Louis's failing health.
Pansy's greatest joy was hearing from and spending time with grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and telling people about her best friend Jesus.
Pansy was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Vera Hayford, brother RC Hayford, sister Trula Heath, husband Louis and daughter Pam Ward.
She is survived by sisters: Amelia Monroe and Estelle Nicoloi; brother Bob Hayford (Betty); sister-in-law Lorraine Gillespie and brother-in-law Howard Heath; daughter Sandy Cox (Bill); and son Ron Monroe (Linda). Grandchildren: Aaron Monroe, Mart Monroe (Kari), Chad Monroe (Kristi) Michele Conine (Jim), Jeff Ward (Amber), Jody Hollenbeck (Jay), Jim Cox (Bobbie) and Jason Cox (Maggie). Eighteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
