Obituary for Bonnie Rae Iske (Daubert)

Bonnie was born January 9, 1934, along with her twin sister, above a grocery store in Uehling, NE. She died at West Holt Memorial Hospital in Atkinson, NE on October 31, 2016.

She attended grade school in Uehling. At the age of seven, the family moved to Omaha, where she graduated from South High School. Bonnie worked as a key punch operator at Union Pacific Railroad. In March 1952, she married Chuck Iske. They lived south of Omaha with their three children.

Bonnie was confirmed and married at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Omaha. She taught Sunday school, began the women’s Mary Circle, attended adult Sunday school, and passed her deep faith on to her three children.

In May 1966, the family moved to a ranch in the sandhills south of Merriman, NE. When her youngest daughter started kindergarten, Bonnie started her 40 plus years as the Merriman School secretary. She touched the lives of many students and students’ children and grandchildren.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her son Marvin Iske, parents Earl and Alice Daubert, twin sister Bonita Robinson and sister Marilyn Nusser.

She is survived by her husband Claude Marvin ‘Chuck’; daughters Debra (Bill) Ludwig of Crescent, IA and Carol ‘CJ’ (Dave) Leonard of Valentine, NE; grandchildren: Nichole (Travis) Bostock of Page, NE, Garrett Leonard (Samantha Asmus) of Valentine, MaKenzie (Mathew) Jones of Battle Creek, NE and Bailey Jo Leonard of Kearney, NE; great grandchildren: Laken Rae Bostock and soon to be Baby Boy Jones; sister Joan (Tom) Lenihan of Council Bluffs, IA; brother Don Daubert of Omaha; and brothers-in-law: Loren Nusser of Council Bluffs and Warren ‘Rob’ Robinson of Papillion, NE.

Services were held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine with interment at the Gordon Cemetery, Gordon, NE. Holmes Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
